You're right, this is not supported but I don't think it will.
I am not a big fan of modman file. It breaks native tree structure and flexibility.
A good example is that your extension is not usable if I want to download it manually, you need modman to be installed and this sucks.

@jreinke: I agree with your take on the symlinks of modman breaking native tree structure etc - hence my interest in modgit.

In the extension I mentioned above, one which I've forked, I've added a modman file to work around the non-standard layout in their repo. In this case it's my opinion that a modman file is a great way low-impact way to wrangle the files into the correct paths.

Support for some way to work around the nuances in how extensions are stored has got to be a good thing, and there's no point reinventing the wheel!

Anyway I'll take a bash at extending modgit's handling of modman files to handle their current wildcard implementation.
I don't see the need for support of their @import or @shell directives.
