The fix for this is simple; change line 484 in pop_char() from:
else if (iachar(c) <= 32) then
to
else if (iachar(c) <= 31) then
.
Spaces (iachar(c) == 32) are already handled in the next conditional block; handling them in this block prevents the ignore flag from being considered and results in all non-printable characters being stripped.
