Its working fine for me . just double click on the file and it itself gets installed. No need to copy it.

Got a similar issue. I am behind a firewall though, could that be an issue? Also using multiple displays.

Didn't work for me due to Little Snitch, but after updating the rule works perfectly, thanks!

I am on Mac Book Air with El Capitan and the screen saver starts and the animation runs between 1 and 3 seconds than stops or freezes, no recovery or continuation. No Little Snitch installed, firewall is the one that comes with El Capitan. Any thoughts?

1st Update... Downloaded the "signed" version posted in one of the other threads, which works somewhat better, i.e. it runs 3-5 seconds and can then be restarted by pressing the spacebar, which gets it to run between 1-2 seconds before it stops again.

2nd Update... see Update 1, I changed location now and can say that it seems to be related to available Internet bandwidth, i.e. speed and buffering. When I am on a 6Mb or higher connection then things get better, but what seems to have the highest effect is to wait for the first "freeze", give it 30+ sec and then hit the spacebar to continue. Then it runs for a good while until it stops again. Not what it is intended to do, but at least one gets the idea of what it is supposed to be like. ;-)

3rd Update... Updated to 1.2. Beta 3... No improvement over 1.1 signed. Actually, the only version that recovers and seems to keep caching in the background when the animations is haltet is 1.1. signed, which continues when one waits before hitting the spacebar again. Interestingly enough the spacebar should call it out of ScreenSaver mode, but does not. Not a problem though, as I always hit the ESC to get out of the screensaver. Nice work though, will love it when it works. :-)

@UltraREX @damdeez @jaromeroes @yeluolei Did you get the screensaver working?

from aerial.

damdeez avatar damdeez commented on August 19, 2024

My issues still persist BUT they appear to be happening behind a firewall only. On my home network the screensaver works fine.

TheForth99 avatar TheForth99 commented on August 19, 2024

Yes, thought it to be a firewall/router related issue, but I have tried it
at multiple homes and the results seem to be random. I have more the
impression that it has to do with resource loading on the laptop, the
network latency or the server where the video gets served from. I say that
mainly, because it seems random between the various themes. Sometimes they
work, sometimes they don¹t. Are the various themes/videos locally stored or
are they network server, or are they only the first time network served and
then cached on the local drive?

alistairmcmillan avatar alistairmcmillan commented on August 19, 2024

Older versions only stream the videos from Apple's servers.

Please try the latest release here. You can tell it to cache the videos on your machine. This should resolve the firewall/network issues your seeing.

the new version work for me now~ only when preview. when my computer go to real screen, still show black screen sometimes. I am in china, maybe it's the network issue

alistairmcmillan avatar alistairmcmillan commented on August 19, 2024

@yeluolei Try enabling the caching option. Once you have a complete copy of the videos on your machine, you should be unaffected by network issues.
