phpunit is only in require-dev, so you should be able to get composer to skip it.

btw, drush works fine on php 7 now :)

Huh. If composer doesn't actually do what it claims it will do, there's not much I can do about it!

It's been pointed out to me in another issue that the main script actually requires PHP 7 anyway -- there's a spaceship operator in there somewhere.

Still, needing to download the dev dependencies isn't ideal.
