I believe they wish to reduce the download size of a statcast query by only asking for certain columns. For example, if I am specifically looking at umpire called balls and strikes, I don't care about launch_speed, launch_angle, etc.

Is it possible to:

  1. filter my query based on any of the advanced stats (zone, pitch_type, release_speed, etc.) in the request, so that the size of the download is smaller (my understanding is no)
  2. filter the returned columns, again to reduce download size and server strain (my understanding is again no)

It looks like this is possible in the statcast search (https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/statcast_search), but I don't see how in the CSV.
