I believe they wish to reduce the download size of a statcast query by only asking for certain columns. For example, if I am specifically looking at umpire called balls and strikes, I don't care about launch_speed, launch_angle, etc.
Is it possible to:
- filter my query based on any of the advanced stats (zone, pitch_type, release_speed, etc.) in the request, so that the size of the download is smaller (my understanding is no)
- filter the returned columns, again to reduce download size and server strain (my understanding is again no)
It looks like this is possible in the statcast search (https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/statcast_search), but I don't see how in the CSV.
