There are multiple options about how to implement this.
- If there are not enough habituation trials remaining to meet the criterion (e.g., if max hab is 12, the check window is 3, and the criterion is not set by trial 9) habituation automatically ends early (risky).
- A new setting that detects if habituation has not been set by an arbitrary threshold, and if so, immediately ends habituation early
The latter is more customizable and will therefore most likely be the implementation.
