Actually it builds fine if I just open the xcodeproj and compile it in Xcode. The problem is if I switch from the llvm compiler to gcc, because while llvm uses the c99 standard by default, gcc uses an earlier standard, and some of the code appears to be written to expect c99. I was able to fix this for gcc by just telling the xcodeproj to use c99:

The second problem with building with gcc was this:

error: incompatible block pointer types initializing 'void (^)()', expected 'dispatch_block_t'
