Not sure! Try pdf.file.close() before your call to os.remove.

@MathiasVersichele If that does not work, here is trick I was forced to use since my pdf is in memory and not a file. Use the StringIO or cStringIO module which allows to create a file like object in memory. So you will be able to do

from cStringIO import StringIO
with open(filename, 'rb') as fp:
    s = StringIO(fb.read()  
# File handler is automatically closed leaving the file removable
os.remove(filename)
pdf = pdfquery.PDFQuery(s)

from pdfquery.
