Does not build on FreeBSD 11 about pdftotext HOT 4 CLOSED

Thanks for the report! It looks like FreeBSD doesn't search /usr/local by default? I think you're right, we'll have to add it to setup.py

Hi, thanks for answering. I don't know if it searches there, maybe I got my configuration wrong... other packages do work though -- I don't know if they were specifically adjusted to support it.

In the meantime, I got it to work by passing the option to pip:

pip install --global-option=build_ext --global-option="-I/usr/local/include" pdftotext

from pdftotext.

This should be fixed now. I changed setup.py to also search in /usr/local if the platform is FreeBSD or OpenBSD. I don't really know how the ports systems work on other BSDs, but if anyone else has a problem, I hope they find your workaround here, @kaikuehne.

Thanks to the FreeBSD folks for providing VM image downloads so I could very easily test this 👍
