just FYI, I am rewriting the whole package to python3 and refactoring the base classes, but I guess this shouldn't be any concern to your code...

I am planing to open a branch and then open a pull request. However it takes time to finalize development of a branch.

I assume Python3 but I do not use some special properties of newer version. We could have a regression tests for Python3 and Python2.

according to this: https://help.github.com/en/articles/permission-levels-for-a-user-account-repository you should be able to create e.g. new label for issues and stuff like, could you please try to do other stuff in the repository instead of pushing?
