Thanks. Just running "xcompmgr -c &" before or after starting projecteur solved the issue. Works like a charm!

I personally use mostly GNOME and sometimes KDE or Xfce - so I can't give you a suggestion here - hopefully somebody else. In ch11ng/exwm#24 somebody mentions xcompmgr
