Do you have some ideas for colors?
In the socket folder you find all types that are currently supported.

Let's start basing ourselves on the compositor's existing colors, gray for standard 0 to 1 float values, "yellow" for color rgb input/outputs (that puts me to think that maybe we could have texture nodes that drive animation), blue for vector values XYZ...
i find that white for strings works well so keep that...

i think there is a good start there... tell me what you think

The problem is that we have much more socket types here because it is a lot more general.
I know it wouldn't be the best thing to break the consistency but I think we have to. There are not just the normal types but also lists for some types that should have an similiar color but not the same (maybe play with alpha channel?)

I think we have to group similiar socket types. e.g. numbers, objects, strings and give every group a hue and change the saturation and value for the individual sockets
