Upstream has changed the alert processor to actually "store" data in the local TSDB. Promxy doesn't have one (necessarily-- depends on the remote read/write configuration). So we can (1) implement remote_read to allow reading these back or (2) create a "querier" which knows how to re-query the alert state (basically map the metric name to the alert rule we have and process the old data).

Was there any progress with this?
Is there any workaround so alerts aren't re-fired after promxy restart?

I recently got a bit of free time to hack up a solution here -- WIP in #613

At this point it seems to work fine, it just needs some tests and configuration wrapping. Hoping to get some additional time soon to knock it out, but if anyone wants to take it for a spin go for it!
