I don't remember what the FF3 issues were, but I felt like it wasn't worth supporting it. Testing for support of the oninput event in FF4 (and maybe 5) is difficult. That is what that line was for - it enabled FF to report that it does support the oninput event.

Feel free to remove that line. I may remove it as well because that share of FF users is becoming so small, and autosize is just a minor enhancement. FF3-5 users are less than 1% of my FF traffic.

Thanks for the quick response (and the great plugins!) -- it all makes more sense to me now. The Chrome extension I'm working on isn't too worried about supporting Firefox 3-5, so we'll probably just remove those lines.

By early November, the Chrome Web Store will only add extensions that use Manifest Version 2, which doesn't allow inline event-related attributes, so that's a rough deadline to target if you're considering removing that oninput check.

Dropped feature detection for those older browsers, so the afflicted line has been removed.
