A similar issue happens with date fields, when trying to clear them
from react-ts-form.

Weird, thanks for the report - I'm looking into this. Might be a react-hook-form quirk but I'll make sure it isn't an issue with the library

yeah it seems like this is just how RHF works which is actually a pretty big issue since it makes default values pretty unusable for non string fields - I think I might have to make some breaking change to fix this?
I'll try to have something up before end of day today
EDIT: can fix without breaking
