Populate ion-google-place with location stored in the database about ion-google-place HOT 3 OPEN

I got it to work by adding a new attribute called displayAddress as follows: Is there a better way?

scope: {
displayaddress: '=ngDisplayaddress',
ngModel: '=?',
geocodeOptions: '='
},

scope.$watch('displayaddress', function () {

                        element.val(scope.displayaddress);
                        scope.searchQuery = scope.displayaddress;
                    });

You can use some element that is already inside the directive just like this

   if(ngModel.$viewValue) {
      geocoder.geocode({ address: ngModel.$viewValue }, function(results, status) {
         if(status == google.maps.GeocoderStatus.OK) {
            scope.$apply(function() {
               if(results) {
                  scope.selectLocation(results[0]);
               }
            });
         }
      });
   }
});
