@zzmp I disagree strongly. At worst this should be info!, but definitely not debug! as then the only way to get this data is by getting logging from everything ever.

I think making it info! would be a mistake also, as in 99% of cases I do want this data.

In the best situation, there would be ::from_writer method that would allow me to pass an arbitrary writer for logging to a file or something like that, but the default from ::new should just be stdout using writeln!(stdout).

I personally don’t like using environment variables at all, because you are basically silently depending on a carefully maintained global namespace that isn’t recorded or deliberately encoded anywhere. I would prefer it just being something you comment out if you don’t want.
