Hi, I'm also a novice in XML/XSL but after half a day learning XSL I found the problem:
namespace
axis is deprecated since XML Path Language (XPath) 2.0 (Second Edition) (see https://www.w3.org/TR/xpath20/#dt-in-scope-namespaces). If you change the first lines
<xsl:stylesheet
xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="2.0"
xmlns:wadl="http://wadl.dev.java.net/2009/02"
xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
xmlns:html="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"
xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"
>
to
<!--changed version attribute-->
<xsl:stylesheet
xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="1.0"
xmlns:wadl="http://wadl.dev.java.net/2009/02"
xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
xmlns:html="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"
xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"
>
then the validator is not complaining any more but I don't know if some functionality is not working then any more, too. This has to be checked carefully. I will check this out next week.

Testcases
- Firefox is transforming the example equally with option
version="1.0"
orversion="2.0"
. - Eclipse is not complaining about any syntax errors with option
version="1.0"
but complains with optionversion="2.0"
.
Possible solution approaches
- change to
version="1.0"
, - use something like fn:namespace-uri-for-prefix instead of using
namespace
axis.
That's it from my side. Have fun with it.
