No worries. I have created a workaround in my build scripts by removing all entries in config.xml before running cordova-res.
I didn't take a look into the source code, but I guess it is working for android, because of the density attribute which will be checked?!
Maybe it's possible to use height and width as a combined identifier for ios?!

@murphy85 I apologize, I must've missed this issue.
This result is due to cordova-res using src to find existing nodes in config.xml. It requires a complete path match to be safe. We could potentially use a custom attribute (like id="icon-1024") to avoid this. Thoughts?
