No, Tectonic does its own thing under the hood 😁 Not much we can do about it. I've pushed a note about this in the README.

fwiw, I think adding a message that prints out to inform the user when they are waiting would be a better UI then expecting the user to have studied the readme well, and I think this what Ismail was suggesting.
I'm OK with leaving that out if it's too cumbersome to implement right now, and we're planning to change out the codebase, but it seems like this will be an issue for Rust code too since its an IO bound delay, so I suggest we leave the issue open until inline messaging is provided.
