obviously due to the unorthodox initial instalation process
You need to install fheroes2 from Google Play to be able to get further updates from Google Play. If you did not initially install it from Google Play, then, most likely, it is signed by an incompatible certificate. You need to uninstall it and reinstall from Google Play.

What is so unorthodox about going to the app page on Google Play and clicking the Install button?

Huh? How does this relate to the app installation process? When you launch fheroes2 toolkit to do this, fheroes2 is already installed, right? Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to launch it.
Anyway, you were asked, why do you think that the app is not being updated, and also you were asked for the app page screenshot from Google Play on you device. No answers so far.

this is not an orthodox gplay method, whats so hard to grasp?

I have a growing suspicion that the app was not installed through Google Play. Manual copying was required in ancient pre-Google-Play versions. In Google Play versions this is done through the fheroes2 toolkit app.

honestly i cannot guarantee you are wrong, its been a long time. perhaps
that is the cause.
I uninstalled and reinstalled in a minute. can close. if it happens again I
ll return.
