Sugarcane (or any of the vanilla story formats) is no longer being actively maintained, so the existing bugs and modern web-browser incompatibles effect anyone who uses it, and is why I (and others) generally suggest people using it change to SugarCube.
One issue with actively supporting Sugarcane in the cookbook is that it sends mixed signals to it's users in that Management (for want of a better term) will support usage of the story format here but wont support usage (no maintenance) of the story format on the site it's officially obtain from. (Twine 1 repository)

@greyelf: I don't disagree. The only problem I see is that it is still offered from the homepage. As long as that is the case, it's worth supporting in the cookbook.

@greyelf: After talking to Chris on Slack, I think I misunderstood you. You are right. I'm going to close this. We don't need more Sugarcane entries at the moment. If Twine 1.4.2 is supported more in the future, we can always add more.
