Testing gwin about gwin HOT 2 OPEN

When you installed gwin locally, you would have installed pytest. This module is necessary to run python test files. The python files are dependent on another module named mock. This was not installed when I ran the setup, so you may also need to run pip install mock from within your virtual environment.

To test one specific python test file you run the following,

pytest ${PYTHON_FILE}

This will run the entire file. However, if you want to only run one specific class, then you run,

pytest ${PYTHON_FILE}::${CLASS_NAME}

Alternatively, you can dig deeper and test a specific function as,

pytest ${PYTHON_FILE}::${CLASS_NAME}::${FUNCTION_NAME}

from gwin.

In some circumstances, it is convenient to add the xv flags (pytest -xv). The x flag stops pytest from running at the first failure and the v flag allows the user return a list of strings. For example, in the python test code, we could write,

def pytest_report_header(config):
if config.getoption("verbose") > 0:
return ["info1: did you know that ...", "did you?"]

and the string info1: did you know that... and did you? would be added to the test header.
