Can you share the OpenAI model, prompt + input that you used to reproduce this?

Ah so it appears that the request code might not be checking for API token validity prior to using the API.

  • I was using 3.5-turbo
  • Prompt was just textual "Say Hi" using the chatgpt.chat service

The error was due to my token being expired so my guess is it's receiving an error message back and trying to parse the error JSON as a successful response JSON and throwing this parsing error?

Might need some error handling for expired/invalid API tokens.
