Doesn't this add too much unnecessary complexity for the moment? Why do we need this?

To improve the performance of reading (hydrating) the aggregate. If we can ensure that the operations are always executed in the same instance for the same aggregates, and that instance has that aggregate state in cache, we optimize the performance of the system. Makes sense?
We can implement distributed cache so that we don't rely on this instance-aggregate alignment.
