Error during select bigger tables about r3-odbc HOT 1 OPEN

Hard to tell what's happening here. An obvious approach in narrowing down the error would be sth. along the lines of

insert db "select PCBSerial from SYGUEST.PQ1310"
insert db "select RSerial from SYGUEST.PQ1310"
...
insert db "select MapRSerialNo from SYGUEST.PQ1310"

Do all these fail? Does only one or some columns fail? Size per se might not be the trigger here.
How far does sth. like

insert db ["select * from SYGUEST.PQ1310 offset ? limit ?" offset limit] 

with sensible values for OFFSET and LIMIT get you? You might be able to narrow it down to a specific row and the data conatined therein, whatever.
