It's great, but it makes lots of HTTP requests every 60 seconds that
aren't cached.
- This will provide a questionable user experience of low bandwidth
connections. - Even my iPhone 4S is struggling to render & scroll while the http
stuff is going on. - Lets get some stat's on how many people use these things.

Although they look good already as are , would be nice to get
Rich/Chris to style up default tweet style.

Well, maybe we should kill this plugin approach if it hurts us too much and
we can do a better job?

It's nuts. Every 60 seconds, in Chrome I get ~190 requests per refresh or which 80% have no-cache headers set. I suspect it's a fair bit more on longer live blogs.
Here's the HAR from two minutes, http://matt.chadburn.co.uk/drop/andrew-mitchell-resigns-live-reaction.har
from frontend.
Now after experiencing this first hand on a crap mobile connection I'm in
full agreement we should ditch the twitter widget entirely!
On a side note for myself, when a live blog is no longer "live" it goes
back to default article styling, and thus as gigantic blockquotes and
doesn't look great. I will fix this on Monday.
