Ok, so I actually got that working. Updated code: https://gist.github.com/quintona/e5208c7b68aced6f19e6.
So, the next important issue is performance. The web demo shows this route taking 0.007s (7ms), when I run the example is always takes around 100ms. What is different in the way I have created the data or written the code in order to get the 10x performance difference?

Thanks for you report! You should take care that a LevelGraphStorage is built while creating the graph files (scan log files for LevelGraphStorage and GraphStorage should NOT appear). Users often report this problem so I'll have to make sure now that a proper warning/exception is printed to make things clear.
BTW: we should move this discussion to the mailing list so that others can benefit.
