Got it. Works as expected now. Thanks for the detailed answer.

Filtering rules in the relabel
section should be adjusted. Your configuration basically says that only .*/grafana-agent
executables are getting profiled. With python, it probably makes sense to inspect __meta_process_commandline
field instead, like this:
discovery.relabel "agent" {
targets = discovery.process.all.targets
// Filter needed processes
rule {
source_labels = ["__meta_process_commandline"]
regex = ".*run_forever\.py.*"
action = "keep"
}
}
More about the available fields: https://grafana.com/docs/agent/latest/flow/reference/components/discovery.process/#exported-fields
Also, you don't need to put PID to pyroscope.scrape
:
pyroscope.scrape "local" {
forward_to = [pyroscope.write.endpoint.receiver]
targets = [
{"__address__" = "localhost:12345", "service_name" = "test_profile"},
]
}
Moreover, if you don't want to profile agent (via scraping), you don't need this section.
