Interesting… the shelljs behavior of ShellString might make this a bit more intuitive, since it preserves the .stdout behavior but you can still use the object mostly like a real string of its stdout.

I'm not sure whether that'd require a major version bump.

Actually, the documentation says what Promise<ProcessOutput> is returned.

You can pass ProcessOutput to other $`...` "shells"; it will understand what only stdout is needed (as well deleting tail newline). Or us can get it like this:

let {stdout} = await $`git branch --show-current`
