Merchandise design for FOSDEM / GodotCon about godot-design HOT 28 CLOSED

ok here is my last asset, its conventional, quite boring, hipster suited and everything in between. you can use it and modify it if you want (the other design is not modifiable).

I think we could go for dark grey, it's a little bit more original and the same color's as gobot's eyes :)

Yeah I'd like dark grey too, the Hacktoberfest T-shirt was like this last year and pretty cool IMO :)

here it is the list of possible designs, of course they can be further refined

1. this is the original design it has 5 color
2. this is my favorite but does not seem posible with serigraphy (or at least thats what i think)
3. same as 1 but other colors.
4. that only has for colors so the concept starts to degrade
5. that only has 3 colors so i removed the godot head, that need the white
6. this is the most minimal one, it only uses 2 colors and preserves the escence of the design, but it does not have the godot head and lacks detail.

a 3 color option that includes the godot head is also possible.

For the T-shirt, we might choose a less flashy color, they will be easier to sell, and to wear. Maybe grey, black, or a less flashy shade of blue. ^^

I think the flyers are not needed if we have the business cards. Flyers are easily thrown away, while people keep the business card more easily (this is more ecological too ^^).

Mugs would be awesome :)

Maybe a tablecloth to cover the table ? It usually looks more pro.

I agree with @groud and @mhilbrunner, though I like @djrm's design a lot and wouldn't mind have it on some custom merch, for the official T-shirt it's too aggressive/shounen :)

Godot's logo was designed to look friendly while representing technology (think the Android robot) so that it can appeal to the largest public possible.

To specify the use case again: the main design we need for a T-shirt is for the official T-shirt that we'll use at conferences; it's not meant as a cool goodie for already-convinced Godot users, but to let the rest of the world discover the engine (though if already-convinced Godot users like it and want to have it too, that's better :)).

@akien-mga it would be really good if you could post some design constraints like the amount of colors, the sizes and such, so people can design material that will look the same once produced.

For T-shirts if we want good quality, we basically pay per-color, so the more colors we have the more expensive the T-shirt. For the previous design we had 2 colors (white and dark grey), the blue in the logo came directly from the T-shirt's textile color.

For the size, we went for A3 on the front for the previous design. But if a different size looks good, that's doable too. It's also possible to have a design on the front and another on the back, but we then pay more of course.

For this time if you're sticking to the 2 color palette I suggest having a black textile color.

Black textile as a background is way more preferable in general, and the 2 paid colors would thus be white and blue.

For each item:

• Shirt: the price seems ok. I don't know if we want organic / fair trade stuff but seem in the same order of prices.
• Kakemono: seems quite cheap to me :)
• Business card: Those one seem too expensive, from a website in France I can have 100 pieces double-side printed for 10€, or 250 for 12€.
• Sticker: So for a 5 by 5 sticker, we have 400 pieces for 24€. Seems quite ok. Can we have a custom cut shape for that price ?

Hum, I love it but I'm not sure it could be easily sold as a shirt. I mean, having a shirt shirt an epic/agressive robot character looks a little bit "teenagerish" to me. I think we should go for something a little bit more sober for the shirt.

However, this design could perfectly suit a mug or a poster. :)

Agree with groud, and as much as I love the robot char, I think it clashes a little with the way simpler Godot logo that close to it as well. I'd actually prefer that version with a subtle "godotengine.org" text along the edge in place of the Godot logo. Preferably in black on the grey background, so you only notice it up close. Alternatively in the color of the border, but not white.

(So I like the last version with blue text and no Godot logo best.)

Still, maybe not the best for a conference shirt.

Reopening to discuss the actual printing. Time goes by and it's going to be tough for T-shirts if we don't order early next week.

OK, so we agreed on the specifics to get T-shirts ordered today:

• 120p in total
• 100p Unisex Regular (see above): 10 S, 30 M, 35 L, 20 XL, 5 XXL
• 20p Women: 3 XS, 7 S, 7 M, 3 L

Colour: NAVY
Design: godot_tshirt_2018_alpha_bg.zip (same as https://github.com/godotengine/godot-design/blob/master/assets/2018/godot_tshirt_2018.svg but with alpha background)

First cost estimate would be around 7,32*120+80 = 958,40 EUR, but might be a little less or more (80 EUR for shipping was a rough estimate). 50% needs to be paid upfront, I'll do it.
