This may be a limitation from the current macro_rules!-based implementation of the attribute. A revamp of safer-ffi to promote these macros to full-featured proc-macros will solve this, and that revamp ought to be happening within the following weeks. Stay tuned!

In the meantime:

  • for lifetime bounds, you can inline those:

    use ::safer_ffi::prelude::*;

    #[ffi_export]
    fn foo<'b, 'a : 'b> ()
    {
        todo!();
    }
  • otherwise, you'll need to use the internal macro_rules! directly:

    use ::safer_ffi::__ffi_export__;

    __ffi_export__! {
        fn foo<'a, 'b> ()
        where { // <- note the extra braces being needed
            'a : 'b,
        }
        {
            todo!();
        }
    }

from safer_ffi.
