Change the behaviour of /sbin/linker so that it behaves more like /lib/ld-linux.so about bionic HOT 1 OPEN

That should actually read /bin/linker. In any case, I've been working on this for the last couple of days, and it's been pretty interesting.

One of the first things I investigated was getting /bin/linker to not only operate as a normal shared object (what it does normally when called by executables as the dynamic linker), but also to run as a standalone executable (like ld-linux.so). The behavior of the executable format is described by 'man 8 ld'.

My current way to make this happen is to compile /bin/linker with its own .interp section referencing /bin/linker and cleverly avoid recursively linking the dynamic linker. It already has a well-defined entry point (_start).

After the linker has linked itself as the executable being run, it might be wise to dynamically link in libc.so, but deciding how to run it as any exutable. should just be a matter of examining argv
