Just a little note on this. In GMT6 we will have projections dealt with proj4 as well, so if this projection is, or will be, in proj4(5) then adding it is more foreseeable. But even this may take time as the whole infra-structure of projecting images is not yet finished.

There was a similar question in the PROJ mailing list and the answer is that it will be available in PROJ 5.2 expected next week. So eventually we will end up having it too in GMT, but since we are using PROJ via GDAL we need that it catches up, next that we catch up with GDAL and finish the projecting images stuff. So, still some time.
