Although performance-wise, it would probably be undesirable (i.e. on large log files, or doing 'grc tail -F'), having some plugin/modules (well, really, a library) of regex rules that commonly are used (i.e. IPv4, IPv6, FQDN hostname, file paths, URI, etc) would be nice so when an expression of regexp that had bug gets fixed, it is at single location/file that resolves it (of course, I can imagine the file dependencies nightmare of Lib1 including Lib2 which includes Lib1, etc).

Alternatively, it would also be nice to be able to call external commands to do the matching (again, performance would probably be horrible) for performance, in particular, IPv6 regex can become really hairy if one wants to handle all expressions (i.e. able to handle things like '2001:db8::192:168:1:1%eth0' or 'https://[2001:db8::2]:8080').
