I noticed this too but assumed it was as designed. The 'setTorchMode' is explicitly being set while 'setFlashMode' is never applied in this project.
If you want an example of how to replace the torch feature with flash you can checkout my fork (on the f/flash branch).

Hi, I just fixed this bug. On the capturing of the image I wrote a check to turn the flash off if it was on. You can check it out on my latest commit (March 31st). Thanks for using this library and thanks for reporting the bug.
