I've had some time to look into your issue now. Please can you try the following command on version 1.1.4.
gssg --domain https://matfire.github.io --url https://matfire.github.io
domain should be used to target where your ghost instance is hosted, like this.
gssg --domain https://matfire.yourghostinstance.com --url https://matfire.github.io
Then you should be able to upload the output to your github pages.
Regarding the null error, that just means you don't have a 404/index.html page. You might be missing a template for it in ghost.
