Hello,

When I reverse-engineered my Rival 100, I noticed that the "color gradient" feature is not implemented in the mouse but in the SteelSeries Engine 3: it send the color command for each update of the gradient...

I think it works the same for the Rival and the Rival 300...

The only way to implements this feature is to run a daemon that will send the color commands to the mouse.

but of course tel me if I'm wrong, It is better if it is implemented hardware-side :)

Regards,

Man, that sounds awful... I guess they have a good hardware reason for
this...
Good to know though, that explains why no user-developed tool implements
that functionality... Thanks.

You can do something awful like setting an env var with the color of the first gradient on your session and have a cronjob reading/updating that var and calling the command ... oh wait, that's what the app does :P

Someone already wrote a daemon to implement the gradients:

The gradient is hard coded because he made this for his own use, but it is easy to tweak :)
