Only known workaround is to actually get AppIndicator support so you don't hit the broken fallback. For Gnome you can have this through an extension (https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/615/appindicator-support/). Note that application indicators are against Gnome UX

This is on Gnome 3.24 on Archlinux, other Flatpak apps work as expected.

The icon works when being a normal AppIndicator but when it falls back to a GtkStatusIcon it fails.

EDIT: As an update I don't think it is as simple as a missing icon file, they all seem in the correct place and nothing obvious failing in strace.

I have same issue on up to date Fedora 25 with GNOME 3.22.2.

So far so good using Flatpak/Steam. However, I'm experiencing this issue as well.

Would anyone else be able to verify this actually is fixed? I don't have tray support on my machine anymore

it has been working for about 2 weeks (maybe 1, I'm not sure. But it was before proton update). Only sometimes when steam starts at system startup it uses too big icon.
