Probably a change in the SASS parser. Need to think of a different way to enable negative selectors.

Not sure if this helps but &.name\ -\ &.name.tag validates and outputs the same in the XML (&.name\ -\ &.name.tag). Is remove the escaping backslashes a possibility?

Yes, this is pretty much what I did before but it reads weird and is probably not optimal. I can't experiment with this now however as I'm too busy with other things.
