Can you please share a sample app? I've been running it in different ports without any problems:

Sorry, I think this was a false alarm.
The error was a cross origin problem when the server was running in AWS. We
connect using a CNAME, and the api calls are made to the ec2 hostname, so
the JS throws a cross origin exception.

Good to hear everything is working @danieljamesscott !. Will close this issue now.
Also, wanted to let you know that the artifact is now available in Maven central. Take a look at the README for further details. Also note that the project's group id has changed to io.federecio
