You could use a web view, but you would only be able to shimmer content inside that web view. Shimmer works with any kind of view or layer in your app. If you're just looking for what you can do inside a web view, then by all means feel free use that instead.

The main drawback is that you can only shimmer content in the web view, so not thee views in your app.

Web views are also usually heavier weight and slower than native code.

It might be the right choice for your app. But there are cases where a web view isn't appropriate, and Shimmer works for those.

It's definitely possible to use a web view. However, it's not always quite
fast as native code, so it isn't always the best approach.
