If you don't want the screen or led, just flash the esp32 variant and it'll all turn off (once you power it on and off).

https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/m5stack-technology-co-ltd/U004/12088549 is probably not supported (I don't have one to test), but I think this will work with the existing support: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/U054/2221-U054-ND/12088559?itemSeq=377364194

Actually I take that back, both should work already just fine. Try putting 38 in pirPin. These aren't actually i2c. Can yoou test and close this?

Excellent suggestion about just flashing the ESP32 variant. I'll try that. I do have the Grove/I2C PIR sensor and I'll test whether that works w/ the M5StickC and ATOM Lite devices I have. I'll report back here once I've done the testing.

If I flash the M5StickC version of ESPresence on a M5StickC device and set the PIR pin to 33 (the pin specified in the M5Stack example Arduino code for the PIR UNIT), the Grove/i2c PIR sensor definitely works. But if I flash the generic ESP32 version of ESPresence on the same M5StickC and specify the same PIR pin, the PIR sensor doesn't seem to work. So I guess you can close this issue. Thanks for figuring out that the PIR "UNIT" isn't actually i2c.

Hmm, there might be some init code we're missing then.

Any more info? I looked through the m5 init code and don't see any explanation for what you reported. Should we close this?

I've had a M5StickC w/ the PIR unit running for the past week (w/ the M5StickC-specific build of ESPresence) and it's been working great. I'll try to do some more testing over the next few days to see if I can figure out what init code is needed in the generic build to get the M5StickC to work w/ the PIR "unit" and/or the PIR "hat". I also have a M5 ATOM Lite that I can test w/ the PIR "unit". I don't have the adapter for the ATOM Lite that allows it to work w/ the "hat" devices, but I will probably buy some at some point. I'll also add that I've got 4 devices (2 M5StickCs and 2 ATOM Lites) running ESPresence around my house and they're working great!

I'm going to close this for now. You can open another issue if you figure out what's the difference.
