Ah yup, it was in at one point and then we removed it. I plan to add it back because relx
will need it at least, and bootstrapping rebar3
. I'll move it to a TODO section of commands and try to get to it soon.

Also, there was someone who had released an escript builder that I wanted to consider including instead, but now I forgot who that was and where to find it..

I just forked the plugin for rebar2
that @schlagert made and made most of it work with rebar3
: https://github.com/tsloughter/rebar_escript_plugin
Still need to fix the clean
function and add release support like the original has.
Not sure if we'll be including escriptize
in rebar3
itself or leave it a plugin.

I think we should make a selection of plugins that we would include in the standard compiled version, but having them cleanly identified as 'non-core' -- i.e. eventually they should be maintained by their own distinct maintainers from rebar3 proper, and have their own issues in their own repos.
This could let us focus on building a good core rebar with backwards compatibility, providing a batteries-include release, but allowing some decentralized 'build your own' mechanism to rebar to people who feel like doing it.
Maybe I should open an issue with this as a proposal for how to work in the future.

Yea, that is a good idea.

@Licenser ok if I close this?
