Thanks for reporting. It is difficult for me to test all debugger versions and I usually only do it in detail for the latest one, so this is appreciated.

That's weird, because at line 662 there is a clause for maps.
Looking in the OTP repo, there have been updates to that code, so I think it's best to include them here too. This commit in particular.

Is the kernel set by default to OTP vR16B
? I've gotten some other exceptions with references to dbg_stack_frame with that version in the exception. If that is the case it would make sense why maps would not parse correctly.
I have my project in eclipse to required OTP v18.0
but that didn't seem to help.

The debugger should use the exact match for what the project specifies. That's why we have a copy of the debugger for each one, I have some patches done that weren't accepted in OTP. I am updating the sources now to the latest versions in the maintenance branches, hopefully that is all of it.

I think I fixed it. Please try the 0.51.0 nightly build from http://download.erlide.org/update/nightly and let me know how it goes.
