I just ran this on Ubuntu 14.04 using g++ 4.8.4 and I was unable to replicate the issue. What system are you running this on?

I check the code and I think there is no problem as @johnrocamora said. Even initially tail_values is empty, it will go to the if statement.

I just checked that the program in the codebase has no problem. Sorry about that. I'm not sure what I was thinking, but I failed while trying to get the actual nondecreasing subsequence by examining the values in tail_values, not the size of the subsequence. Does the vector 'tail_values' returned from the function contain the actual nondecreasing sequence?

Thanks for your confirmation. Actually the vector 'tail_values' does not contain the actually nondescreasing sequence but only the length is correct. You can print the values of 'tail_values' to check it.
