I was thinking about these 2 routes:

1. Stay close to the platform. Something like http://photonkit.com/components/ but also a Win + Linux version. So an author could use the same markup, and it would automatically look different for each platform. Not sure how easy that will be. Also I guess Linux has many flavors.
2. Just have a single "electron" look. It's the same on all platforms. It wouldn't feel native anymore, but it would be consistent and easier to extend with your app's own components.

Hmm.. maybe we could do #1, but for Linux do #2. So a "Mac", "Win" and a 3rd "generic" theme for Linux. Then you could have it automatically choose the right theme or you could lock it to certain theme. Like use "generic" on all platforms.

I think I'm dreaming smaller here actually ☁️ my bad in describing what I was thinking.

I was actually just thinking about things like how links and cursors behave and making sure they match what desktop app behavior. It could be 5 things, maybe it's 20, I'm not sure.

The desktop native themes would be awesome, but beyond what I was imagining. We should still do them at some point! But for this demo app I was just thinking about taking care of those small bits. Not sure what word best describes just this set of behaviors I'm meaning...

"Normalizing".. ok, ok.. I see. yeah, that's a good first step. A whole UI library is definitely a bigger task.
