Hi, the callbacks are firing (tested with your code), but I had to change a few things:

Add an alert as the first line in the successCallback of findEvent, so you can verify the callback is fired.
Change eventsFound to eventsFound != null or something similar.
Make sure the notes param is filled in the createEvent.
