I seem to have missed the patch :-( Nevertheless, I would still like to understand the circumstances, under which the problem occurs before we discuss how it could be fixed (if there actually is a problem).
Are we talking about a scenario where a client wants to resume an existing session it has with a server?

No. The problem happens when there was no server response on the first
request.
If server responses on the second request scandium crashes.

So, you are using a DTLSConnector as a client to establish a connection to a DTLS server, right?
And you are trying to establish a new session, not resuming an existing session.
By first request you mean the client's initial Client Hello handshake message?
