I just tried your code, and everything seems fine to me.
image

- (UIImage *)imageForEmptyDataSet:(UIScrollView *)scrollView
{
    CGSize size = CGSizeMake(100, 100);
    UIColor *color = [UIColor redColor];

    UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(size);
    CGContextRef currentContext = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext();
    CGRect fillRect = CGRectMake(0,0,size.width,size.height);
    CGContextSetFillColorWithColor(currentContext, color.CGColor);
    CGContextFillRect(currentContext, fillRect);

    UIImage *image = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext();
    UIGraphicsEndImageContext();

    return image;
}

from dznemptydataset.

Sorry.. I was using the image creation for:

- (UIImage *)buttonBackgroundImageForEmptyDataSet:(UIScrollView *)scrollView forState:(UIControlState)state;

from dznemptydataset.

Oh, in that case try this:

- (UIImage *)buttonBackgroundImageForEmptyDataSet:(UIScrollView *)scrollView forState:(UIControlState)state
{
    CGSize size = CGSizeMake(100.0, 30);
    UIColor *color = [UIColor redColor];

    UIGraphicsBeginImageContext(size);
    CGContextRef currentContext = UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext();
    CGRect fillRect = CGRectMake(0,0,size.width,size.height);
    CGContextSetFillColorWithColor(currentContext, color.CGColor);
    CGContextFillRect(currentContext, fillRect);

    UIImage *image = UIGraphicsGetImageFromCurrentImageContext();
    UIGraphicsEndImageContext();

    return [image imageWithAlignmentRectInsets:UIEdgeInsetsMake(0, -80, 0, -80)];
}

Looks a bit hacky, but imageWithAlignmentRectInsets makes sure your image isn't stretched.
This is a quick render:

from dznemptydataset.
